After leading the morning skate, the injured netminder nears a return. Washington must now decide whether to start him against Philadelphia or prioritize long-term health.

Washington Capitals goaltender Logan Thompson showed signs of nearing a return by leading Wednesday's optional morning skate ahead of their game against the Philadelphia Flyers. Thompson was the first goalie off the ice, though head coach Spencer Carbery noted the team will evaluate how he feels before making a final starting decision.
Thompson remains on injured reserve after suffering a lower-body injury in a 5-2 loss to the Los Angeles Kings. If Thompson is held out, Charlie Lindgren or Mitchell Gibson will start in net against the Flyers.
