Burnley confirm the appointment of Fabio Celestini…

Burnley have appointed 50-year-old Fabio Celestini as their new head coach following the dismissal of Nicky Hayen. Hayen was sacked after just 106 days in charge following a 4-1 loss to Lincoln City, having won only one of his 12 league matches. The Swiss tactician becomes the 32nd permanent manager in Burnley's history, although the club has not disclosed the length of his contract.
Celestini previously managed clubs including Basel, Lausanne-Sport, Lugano, Luzern, Sion, and CSKA Moscow. His appointment was heavily influenced by Burnley's new chief football officer Diego Lopez, who was unveiled earlier in the week. Celestini is expected to bring his own backroom staff as the club looks to climb out of the Championship relegation zone.
