Jim Bowden's contract projection for Jazz Chisholm is very high, and the Angels need to stay away, even if they have the money to spend.

Brian Burrows of Halo Hangout argues that the Los Angeles Angels should avoid pursuing free agent Jazz Chisholm Jr. if he demands a massive deal this offseason. The Athletic's Jim Bowden projected Chisholm could land a six-year, $128 million contract with an opt-out after two years, listing the Angels as one of three potential destinations for the former Yankees second baseman.
Burrows contends that awarding an average annual value of $21.3 million to Chisholm would be financially irresponsible for the Angels' new ownership. Despite Chisholm's defensive versatility and 41 stolen bases, Burrows highlights his decline to 19 home runs, a .231 batting average, and a 1.7 bWAR as reasons to pass on a permanent signing.
