Ja'Kobe Walter has stepped into the Toronto Raptors' starting lineup following the announcement that Kawhi Leonard will be sidelined for at least a week due to swelling in his left knee. Leonard underwent an MRI that showed no structural damage or pain, but his absence could extend for several weeks according to ESPN. In his first start on Sunday against Minnesota, Walter led the team with 22 points in a 117-94 defeat.
Head coach Darko Rajakovic indicated that while Walter will receive increased playing time, the team may also explore options including rookie Allen Graves and veteran Kyle Anderson. Toronto faces the Orlando Magic twice this week at Scotiabank Arena as they adjust their rotation during Leonard's rehabilitation.
