The Story in 60 Seconds

Applications are officially open for the eighth-annual Botchford Project, presented by the Vancouver Canucks and sponsored by The Athletic. The sports journalism mentorship initiative gives aspiring reporters the chance to work as credentialed media members for a day, including attending the morning skate, interviewing players, and covering a game from the press box. This season's designated game is scheduled for January 14 against the Seattle Kraken.

Participants will collaborate with established Vancouver media figures Thomas Drance of The Athletic and Jeff Paterson of The Nation Network to craft stories published on Canucks.com. The initiative previously announced an expansion to Hockey Canada for the 2027 World Junior Championship. Applications for this year's Canucks program will remain open until November 20 at 12:00 pm PCT.
