Outside the top 20 league-wide in goals per game, the Ottawa Senators are believed to be looking to acquire some scoring help up front.

Ottawa Senators general manager Steve Staios is reportedly inquiring around the league to explore trade options for forward scoring help, according to Bruce Garrioch of Postmedia. The Senators rank 21st in goals scored per game early this season, and their offensive depth is severely limited after key summer acquisition William Eklund suffered a torn ankle tendon that will sideline him until at least January.
Garrioch suggests Chicago forward Teuvo Teravainen as a potential fit, though his $5.4 million cap hit presents a significant obstacle. With only approximately $2.6 million in cap room and a recent injury to Warren Foegele, Brian La Rose suggests that making a substantial addition now may be too costly, making holding to bank cap space a more prudent approach.
