Oklahoma City Thunder guard Ajay Mitchell embraced an expanded starting role by scoring a career-high 30 points in a 125-114 victory over the Phoenix Suns. Mitchell stepped up after starters Jalen Williams and Cason Wallace sustained major injuries against the LA Clippers just a day earlier. Williams suffered a torn fibula and dislocated ankle, while Wallace suffered a torn left shoulder.
Mitchell shot 10-for-16 from the field and 9-for-10 from the free-throw line, adding five assists to help the Thunder cope with an injury-depleted lineup. Head coach Mark Daigneault was also without Chet Holmgren and lost Alex Caruso to an ankle sprain during the win.
