With Thomas Chabot returning from injury in Ottawa, the Minnesota Wild claimed Sens defenseman Cameron Crotty off waivers on Thursday.

The Minnesota Wild claimed defenseman Cameron Crotty off waivers from the Ottawa Senators on Thursday. Ottawa had placed Crotty on waivers earlier in the week to clear a roster spot ahead of defenseman Thomas Chabot's return from injury, hoping to reassign the Ottawa native to the AHL's Belleville Senators.
Crotty fell down Ottawa's depth chart following the returns of Chabot, Jake Sanderson, and Artem Zub. This marks the second time in October the Senators lost a player to waivers, following goaltender Leevi Meriläinen's claim by the Vancouver Canucks.
