Washington Wizards rookie AJ Dybantsa scored 19 points in his NBA debut during a 121-111 loss to the Cleveland Cavaliers. The No. 1 overall pick started the game after missing the first four contests of the season with a preseason ankle sprain. Dybantsa played 27 minutes under a restriction, shooting 8-for-12 from the field while adding two rebounds and two assists.
His 19 points marked the highest-scoring debut by a Wizards rookie since Tom Gugliotta scored 20 points in 1992. Dybantsa started alongside Trae Young, Anthony Davis, Alex Sarr, and Kyshawn George. The Wizards, now 2-3 on the season, next face the Charlotte Hornets at Capital One Arena.
