The wait is finally over for Alexander Zverev as his run to the quarter-finals of the Vienna Open has ensured he will become world No 1 in the ATP Rankings next week.

Alexander Zverev expressed his excitement after securing the world No. 1 spot in the ATP Rankings following a 6-4, 7-5 victory over Tallon Griekspoor at the Vienna Open. The German player described reaching the top as an amazing and special feeling after ensuring he will officially overtake Jannik Sinner on Monday, November 2.
At 29 years and six months old, Zverev will become the 30th world No. 1 and the second-oldest first-time leader in ATP history. Tied with Sinner on 9,450 points, Zverev earns the top spot through the ATP tiebreaker due to winning two Grand Slam titles compared to Sinner's one.
