Middlesbrough manager Kim Hellberg has confirmed that defender Alfie Jones is still several weeks away from returning to action. The 29-year-old center-back has been sidelined since sustaining a calf injury during a victory over Norwich City, ruling him out of Middlesbrough's upcoming match against Charlton.
The setback follows a nine-month absence for the Canada international due to a prior ankle injury and surgery. Hellberg noted that while the team misses Jones' presence, the current layoff will also provide additional time for his previously injured ankle to fully heal properly.
