O'Neill has consistently defended the scenes that rounded off the league campaign against Hearts…

Celtic manager Martin O'Neill addressed critics of fan pitch invasions following the Scottish FA's stadium closure sanction against the club. The Scottish FA upheld the punishment, which applies to Celtic's next home Scottish Cup tie, after crowd disturbances during a cup clash against Rangers and a dramatic final-day league decider against Hearts.
O'Neill backed the club's stance opposing the ruling and lamented the absence of away supporters in Old Firm derbies. Defending celebratory pitch invasions, the 74-year-old compared the scenes from Celtic's 3-1 title-winning victory to Fleetwood Town's Carabao Cup upset over Arsenal.
