The Baltimore Orioles have declined their mutual option on right-handed pitcher Zach Eflin's contract for 2027. Eflin, who underwent Tommy John surgery in April, receives a $2 million buyout instead of earning $25 million next season. Meanwhile, the Orioles signed outfielder Rece Hinds to a major league contract for the 2027 season.
Eflin made just one start in 2026 before exiting on March 31, following an injury-plagued 2025 campaign that included back surgery. Hinds, acquired from the Miami Marlins in August, batted .179 with an RBI across 12 games for Baltimore.
