A new update on Kucherov has been provided.
NHL insider Pierre LeBrun reported that Nikita Kucherov plans to continue playing for the Tampa Bay Lightning while awaiting a trade. This update follows a report from Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman stating that Kucherov requested a trade from the organization and informed the team he will not sign a new contract.
Kucherov's willingness to suit up contrasts with other recent trade requests across the league, including Connor Hellebuyck and Dylan Larkin, who both refused to play while waiting to be dealt. The Lightning could also retain Kucherov as their own rental for the rest of the campaign, where he has recorded four goals and 15 points in 12 games.
