Former Middlesbrough star Hayden Hackney speaks to the Northern Echo about his emotional Boro exit and recent Riverside return…
Former Middlesbrough midfielder Hayden Hackney reflected on his departure from the Riverside, revealing that the roar from Boro supporters when he came on as a substitute during the play-off final defeat to Hull City will stay with him forever. Hackney spoke after scoring his first goal for Everton in a midweek Carabao Cup victory over Newcastle United at Hill Dickinson Stadium.
The 24-year-old midfielder also praised the chance to say a proper goodbye during Middlesbrough's recent Legacy Game. Looking ahead with Everton under manager David Moyes, Hackney is aiming for silverware in the Carabao Cup while hoping his boyhood club Middlesbrough can secure promotion back to the Premier League.
