Kangaroos coach Kevin Walters has hit back at speculation surrounding his looming selection calls, declaring he “hasn’t decided” who will wear the No.1 and No.7 jersey moving forward.
Kangaroos coach Kevin Walters has strongly rejected speculation that he has already decided on his finals lineup, insisting the fullback and halfback spots remain open. Speaking after Australia's 66-6 victory over the Cook Islands, Walters fired back at reporters claiming he was lying about his indecision. He confirmed he will consult team leaders before finalizing the team for the semi-finals.
The selection battle features Reece Walsh and James Tedesco vying for the No. 1 jersey, while Tom Dearden and Sam Walker are competing for halfback following Mitchell Moses' tournament-ending injury. Walters praised the performances of both Walsh and Dearden against the Cook Islands, while stressing that Tedesco and Walker also performed to high standards.
