New Zealand have put in one of the statement performances of the men’s Rugby League World Cup to book themselves a place in the semi-finals but it’s a win that has come at a significant cost. The Kiwis defeated Fiji…

New Zealand secured a Rugby League World Cup semi-final berth with a 78-0 victory over Fiji in their final group stage match on October 31, 2026. Casey McLean scored four tries, Keano Kini scored two, and Jamayne Isaako added perfect goal-kicking. However, winger Ronaldo Mulitalo was sent off following a high tackle on Fiji's Ronald Philitoga, leaving him at risk of a suspension.
Fiji's Brandon Wakeham was also dismissed after throwing a punch at Mulitalo in reaction to the challenge, reducing both teams to 12 men. Disciplinary charges are set to be confirmed on Sunday to determine whether Mulitalo will be banned for New Zealand's semi-final against Tonga or Samoa.
