Canadiens Trade Pitch Lands Lightning Star Nikita Kucherov

Writer Adam Martin proposes a hypothetical trade pitch that would send Tampa Bay Lightning star forward Nikita Kucherov to the Montreal Canadiens. The trade pitch follows reported trade demands from Kucherov after contract extension talks broke down over a four-year, $60 million offer. Under the suggested proposal, Montreal would acquire Kucherov and immediately sign him to a five-year, $100 million extension.

In return, Martin suggests the Lightning would receive forwards Josh Anderson and Zachary Bolduc, along with a top-10 protected 2027 first-round draft pick and a 2027 second-round pick. The article argues that the proposed package would prevent Tampa Bay from losing Kucherov for nothing in unrestricted free agency while keeping salary cap hits balanced for both clubs.
