Brady Singer is fresh off the worst season of his career, though his latest contract projections for free agency are still pricing him like a mid-rotation option. If that's the case, the Cincinnati Reds would be wise to steer clear.

Brandon Glick of Blog Red Machine argues that the Cincinnati Reds should move on from pitcher Brady Singer this offseason rather than re-signing him. While Singer demonstrated durability by making at least 30 starts and throwing 150 innings for a fifth consecutive season, Spotrac's projected contract of two years and $33.5 million is considered far too expensive following his poor 2026 performance.
The writer highlights that Singer struggled significantly, posting a 5.85 ERA and a 5.62 FIP while recording a league-low -39 pitching run value. Glick suggests Cincinnati should bypass expensive multi-year offers and instead target more affordable back-of-the-rotation free agents such as Dustin May or Kris Bubic.
