Leeds Rhinos stalwart Jodie Boyd-Ward has been named Wales captain ahead of the upcoming Wheelchair Rugby League World Cup in Australia. Boyd-Ward, who previously represented Ireland in 2013 and England in 2017 before joining Wales for the 2022 tournament, is poised to make history by becoming the first wheelchair player to achieve 50 international caps if she plays three matches down under.
Wales will kick off their campaign against reigning champions England on Friday, October 30, before facing Ireland on November 3 and the USA on November 6. Edinburgh Giants player Stuart Williams, Wales' record international try-scorer, will serve as vice-captain for the tournament.
