The Tampa Bay Rays exercised their $20 million club option on right-handed pitcher Drew Rasmussen for the 2027 season. The decision comes shortly after Rasmussen started Game 5 of the World Series against the Milwaukee Brewers, concluding a campaign where Tampa Bay captured the American League pennant.
The 31-year-old posted a 2.67 ERA with 174 strikeouts across 172 innings in 2026, earning an All-Star selection and leading the AL with a 0.91 WHIP. Rasmussen has overcome three major elbow surgeries to become one of baseball's top starting pitchers.
