Branch’s return gave Detroit’s secondary an immediate boost, but another fine brings his career total to 16 and $188,656 — including several violations involving dangerous tackling techniques.

Detroit Lions safety Brian Branch has been fined $23,882 by the NFL for use of a helmet against Green Bay Packers tight end Tucker Kraft. The discipline followed Branch's return game after nearly a year away, in which he recorded an interception to boost the Lions' secondary.
The penalty increases Branch's career fine count to 16, totaling $188,656, with multiple incidents involving dangerous tackling techniques. Branch will reportedly play without limitations as a full starter against the Minnesota Vikings, as the violation does not fall under the league's new three-strike suspension rules.
