Vakhtang Salia has enjoyed a brilliant start to the season for Newcastle's under-21s…

Newcastle United under-21 forward Salia scored the winning goal in a 3-2 comeback victory over rivals Sunderland in Premier League 2. After overcoming a severe seven-month hamstring injury suffered in his debut campaign on Tyneside, the Georgia youth international netted his fifth goal of the season in front of over 5,000 supporters at St James' Park.
First-team manager Matthias Jaissle attended the match, offering further motivation for the club's academy prospects. Salia, who previously made the senior matchday squad against Hull City, expressed satisfaction in fulfilling his goal of scoring in the derby while continuing to compete for first-team opportunities.
