The New York Jets are placing defensive tackle T'Vondre Sweat on injured reserve, according to NFL analyst Will Parkinson. The third-year defensive tackle, who was acquired via trade, is expected to return later in the season. Sweat adds to a heavily depleted defensive front in New York, where he had been serving as an impactful starter on the interior.
To fill Sweat's vacant spot on the active 53-man roster, the Jets are signing defensive tackle Payton Page from their practice squad. In addition, offensive tackle Brant Banks and edge rusher Quinton Bell are being elevated from the practice squad for standard gameday duty.
