REACTION: Lions coach Ivan van Rooyen has praised the character and resilience shown by his players and management during what he described as an “incredibly difficult tour” after their 20-29 defeat to Glasgow Warriors on Friday night.

Lions coach Ivan van Rooyen praised the character and resilience of his players following a challenging European tour that concluded with a 20-29 defeat to Glasgow Warriors. Despite falling behind 19-3 at halftime, the Lions rallied with second-half tries from Morné van den Berg, Siba Mahashe, and Morné Brandon before late Glasgow scores sealed the match.
The three-week tour saw the Lions endure three consecutive away defeats, including losses to La Rochelle and Edinburgh following the tragic death of lock Hyron Andrews. Van Rooyen also reported that flyhalf Chris Smith suffered a chest injury against Glasgow, with scans planned upon their return home ahead of a two-week break.
