Tasmania defeated New South Wales by an innings and 81 runs inside three days in their Sheffield Shield match in Hobart. None of NSW's top-order batsmen reached double figures in the second innings as they collapsed to 5-31.
Test hopefuls Nic Maddinson, Sam Konstas, and Kurtis Patterson all fell cheaply, with captain Maddinson scoring just one run. Fast bowler Jackson Bird starred on his return from injury with 3-26, supported by Mitch Owen's 3-36. The victory moved Tasmania to the top of the Sheffield Shield standings, while NSW dropped to fourth place.
