Detroit's biggest remaining need may be one that hasn't gotten a lot of mention lately.

Writing for SideLion Report, Candace Pedraza argues that the Detroit Lions should target linebacker depth ahead of the NFL trade deadline. She highlights Philadelphia Eagles linebacker Zack Baun as a premier option to address Detroit's coverage and run defense struggles. Baun is under contract through 2027 with an $11.8 million cap hit that year, and acquiring him would likely require a Day 2 draft pick.
Pedraza also suggests two potential lower-cost alternatives: Arizona Cardinals linebacker Mack Wilson Jr. and Tennessee Titans veteran Cody Barton. While Wilson is viewed as an inexpensive one-year rental, Barton carries an $8.7 million cap hit for 2027 and could provide veteran leadership and stability.
