The Story in 60 Seconds

England international full-back AJ Brimson is moving closer to joining the PNG Chiefs for their inaugural 2028 NRL campaign. Brimson, the Gold Coast Titans, and the Chiefs have reportedly agreed on a severance package to help facilitate the permanent switch. The Titans will contribute toward his salary to ensure the 26-year-old maintains his $900,000 market value alongside the Chiefs' $700,000 tax-free wage offer.

Chiefs head coach Willie Peters previously confirmed strong interest in signing Brimson, who lost his preferred full-back spot at the Titans to Keano Kini. If completed, Brimson would become the second England international to join the club following St Helens prop Matty Lees. One unresolved detail remains where Brimson will play during the 2027 season prior to the Chiefs entering the NRL competition.
