Sheffield United are preparing for the January transfer window and one of the Scottish Premiership top defenders in on their radar.

Sheffield United are plotting a move to sign Motherwell left-back Emmanuel Longelo during the January transfer window, according to Alan Nixon via his Patreon. Manager Chris Wilder's side currently sit 10th in the Championship table after 13 games, just three points outside the play-off places.
Longelo joined Scottish Premiership club Motherwell from Birmingham City in 2025, recording 14 goal contributions across 44 appearances in his debut campaign. However, writer Charlie Hodgson argues that Sheffield United should prioritize attacking reinforcements instead, noting the squad already possesses adequate left-back depth with Harrison Burrows, Sam McCallum, and Rhys Norrington-Davies.
