Having become the youngest F1 world champion at the Mexico City Grand Prix, an overwhelmed Kimi Antonelli was left gasping for air after the checkered flag.

Mercedes driver Kimi Antonelli became the youngest Formula 1 world champion in history at 20 years and 68 days old after finishing third at the Mexico City Grand Prix. The Italian driver broke Sebastian Vettel's 2010 record after crossing the finish line behind race winner Max Verstappen and second-placed Lewis Hamilton. Antonelli was overcome with emotion and tears as race engineer Peter Bonnington confirmed the title over team radio.
Starting from fourth on the grid, Antonelli secured his podium place following an overtake on Ferrari's Charles Leclerc. The championship victory marks the first Formula 1 title for an Italian driver in 73 years. Antonelli credited his family, his Mercedes team, and a consistently strong car throughout the season for helping him secure the championship.
