McLean’s Gold Glove ended a Mets drought that extended to 2014, when Juan Lagares won in center field. Ron Darling (1989) had been the last Mets pitcher to win it.

New York Yankees outfielder Cody Bellinger and New York Mets pitcher Nolan McLean were both awarded Gold Gloves on Sunday. McLean made major league history by becoming the first rookie pitcher ever to capture the award, ending a Mets Gold Glove drought dating back to 2014.
Bellinger earned his second career Gold Glove and his first as an American League left fielder, having previously won in 2019 with the Dodgers. He recorded 21 defensive runs saved, while McLean registered four defensive runs saved and 24 assists during his historic rookie campaign.
