Ryo Hirakawa secured an unexpected maiden Formula 1 point for Haas as he made his series debut amidst a chaotic Mexico City Grand Prix.

Ryo Hirakawa earned a maiden Formula 1 championship point on his series debut for Haas after post-race penalties elevated him to 10th place at the Mexico City Grand Prix. The 31-year-old Japanese driver, standing in for the benched Esteban Ocon, initially took the checkered flag in 13th position as Haas' sole finisher following teammate Ollie Bearman's late retirement.
Hirakawa gained three positions following penalties issued to Oscar Piastri, Franco Colapinto, and Pierre Gasly. Piastri was penalized for a collision with Arvid Lindblad, while Colapinto and Gasly failed to slow under yellow flags, stripping Alpine of points and promoting Hirakawa into the final points-paying position.
