NRL outfit Wests Tigers have confirmed the appointment of former Castleford boss Ryan Carr as an assistant coach for 2027.

Former Castleford Tigers head coach Ryan Carr has been hired by NRL side Wests Tigers as an assistant coach for the 2027 season. The 38-year-old will focus primarily on the team's defense alongside head coach Benji Marshall. Carr makes his return to coaching after departing Super League club Castleford with immediate effect in August 2026 following an internal investigation.
Carr previously worked as an assistant coach at South Sydney Rabbitohs, Cronulla Sharks, and St George Illawarra Dragons, as well as serving as interim head coach for St George in 2023. At Wests, Carr joins fellow assistant coaches Brett Hodgson and Chris Heighington, while Mick Crawley has also been appointed as the club's Pathways Coaching Director.
