South Africa batter Kyle Verreynne and batting coach Ashwell Prince each received an official reprimand and one demerit point for breaching the ICC Code of Conduct during the Cape Town Test.
The ICC has officially reprimanded South Africa batter Kyle Verreynne and batting coach Ashwell Prince, issuing each one demerit point for showing dissent during the Cape Town Test against Australia. The sanctions followed an incident on day three of South Africa's second innings after Marques Ackerman was dismissed and umpires ruled the DRS review window had expired. Prince repeatedly shouted at officials, while Verreynne delayed Ackerman's departure from the field.
Match referee Javagal Srinath issued the Level 1 charges under Article 2.8 of the ICC Code of Conduct. Both Prince and Verreynne admitted the offense and accepted the penalties, avoiding a formal hearing. The administrative disciplinary action did not affect South Africa's 2-1 series victory, which elevated the team above Australia to the top of the ICC Test rankings.
