Aston Villa have decided to drop their planned legal action against pundit Jamie Carragher after accepting his public apology. Executive chairman Nassef Sawiris initially announced the legal threat late on Friday, accusing Carragher of disrespecting the club and its supporters during an appearance on the Stick to Football podcast.
On the podcast, Carragher argued that Unai Emery would leave for Manchester United if given the opportunity, adding that Villa fans should accept football's hierarchy. Carragher subsequently apologized on X for his clumsy language, prompting Villa to officially drop their legal challenge while warning that future disrespectful remarks will not be tolerated.
