Aston Villa center-back Pau Torres has addressed past transfer interest from Real Madrid and Barcelona, reaffirming his commitment to the Premier League side under manager Unai Emery. Speaking ahead of a Champions League match against Barcelona, the 29-year-old confirmed he was a candidate for Real Madrid in 2021 before they signed free agent David Alaba.
Torres, who joined Aston Villa from Villarreal in 2023 and is under contract until 2028, dismissed past suggestions from Emery that he should move to Spain's top two clubs. Instead, Torres stated that he intends to remain at Villa to pursue further trophies with Emery, targeting the Champions League after previously winning the Europa League with both Villarreal and Aston Villa.
