Some seven years after supposedly retiring from coaching, Joe Schmidt still shows no sign of stepping away from rugby as he prepares for month-long stint in Ulster.

Former Ireland head coach Joe Schmidt has taken on a flexible role as coach development advisor at Ulster Rugby, admitting he is "very bad at retiring from coaching." The 61-year-old will spend time mentoring coaches across Ulster's pathway programs in Belfast throughout November before returning for a second stint in April, interspersed with remote support.
Schmidt's move reunites him with former Ireland captain Rory Best, now Ulster's general manager, and head coach Richie Murphy. While Schmidt ruled out replacing Leo Cullen at Leinster, he refused to close the door on future frontline coaching roles.
