Right-handed reliever Isaac Mattson was claimed off waivers by the Seattle Mariners on Monday, ending his three-year stint in the Pirates organization.
The Pittsburgh Pirates experienced key offseason developments as right-handed reliever Isaac Mattson was claimed off waivers by the Seattle Mariners. Mattson departs after recording a 5.35 ERA in 38 appearances during 2026. Meanwhile, impending free-agent second baseman Brandon Lowe engaged with supporters by reposting a young fan's Halloween tribute on social media, sparking fan interest about his future in Pittsburgh.
In award news, both Lowe and utilityman Jared Triolo fell short of winning National League Gold Glove Awards. Brice Turang of the Milwaukee Brewers defeated Lowe for the second-base honor, while Atlanta Braves player Mauricio Dubón beat out Triolo in the utility category despite strong defensive metrics from both Pirates finalists.
