In Week 8, the Detroit Lions moved to 5-2 on the season and 2-0 in the NFC North after taking down the NFL’s last remaining undefeated team: the division rival Minnesota Vikings. Let’s look at the snap counts from this…

The Detroit Lions defeated the Minnesota Vikings in Week 8 to improve to 5-2 on the season, but their defense was forced to adjust on the fly after suffering multiple in-game injuries. Several defensive starters exited early, including safety Brian Branch and edge rusher DJ Wonnum due to concussions, linebacker Jack Campbell with a neck injury, and cornerback D.J. Reed with a hip issue.
To compensate for the losses, Detroit turned to reserve players such as rookie Derrick Moore on the edge, Chuck Clark and Keith Abney in the secondary, and Malcolm Rodriguez at linebacker. Offensively, running backs Jahmyr Gibbs and Sione Vaki paced a dominant second-half rushing attack as coordinator Drew Petzing deployed heavy tight end formations to counter Minnesota's aggressive blitz scheme.
