MLBTR Free Agent Predictions: Pirates Landing Spot 4 Times; Lowe Contract Projection

MLB Trade Rumors predicted the Pittsburgh Pirates as a potential landing spot for four players in its top 50 free agent projections. The list projects second baseman Brandon Lowe to secure a three-year, $69 million contract, with Pittsburgh named among his potential suitors alongside the Yankees and Blue Jays. Lowe was named the Pirates' team MVP after hitting 35 home runs in 2026, and the club extended him a qualifying offer.

MLBTR writers also linked the Pirates to infielder J.P. Crawford on a projected two-year, $16 million deal as a possible fallback option. Additionally, left-handed reliever JoJo Romero is projected for a two-year, $13 million contract, while veteran left-handed starter Robbie Ray is projected to earn a one-year, $12 million deal.
