India captain Shubman Gill confirmed he is experiencing no issues with his neck ahead of the ODI series against New Zealand in Auckland. During a pre-match press conference, Gill stated he completed an extended batting session of around 90 minutes and fielded without discomfort, dismissing fitness concerns after reports surfaced that he received a massage following practice.
Gill has managed recurring neck issues since 2024, including a cervical disc bulge sustained in November 2025 and a spasm during IPL 2026. Looking ahead to the series, Gill noted India will use a flexible batting approach for the No. 5 and No. 6 spots featuring Axar Patel and KL Rahul.
