Toronto Maple Leafs legend Wendel Clark delivered an early verdict on Gavin McKenna, saying the best is still yet to come this season.
Toronto Maple Leafs legend Wendel Clark has shared high praise for rookie Gavin McKenna during his first NHL campaign. Speaking to Daily Faceoff Toronto, Clark lauded the 18-year-old's hockey intelligence, vision, and decision-making on the ice, predicting that McKenna will show substantial improvement after the Christmas break.
Through his first 16 games of the season, McKenna has posted five goals and six assists despite head coach Jim Hiller managing his ice time. Clark, who entered the league as an 18-year-old first overall pick in 1984, noted that the physical transition and growing pains McKenna faces are completely natural for a teenage rookie.
