Former Sunderland, Leeds United, and Brighton midfielder Liam Bridcutt has joined Ashington's interim management team alongside former player Paul Dunn. The duo will take temporary charge of the Colliers as the club searches for a permanent manager following the departure of Marc Ellison by mutual agreement. Their first match at the helm will be a home clash against Consett on Saturday.
Ellison's exit came after a 2-1 defeat against bottom club Hallam, leaving Ashington battling to remain in the Northern Premier League East Division. Ashington's head of football Ian Skinner stated that Bridcutt will bring extensive experience and footballing knowledge to help restore stability and confidence to the squad during this challenging period.
