The Ontario Reign’s three-goalie rotation appears to be no more. Yesterday morning, the LA Kings…

The Los Angeles Kings reassigned rookie goaltender Hampton Slukynsky to the ECHL's Greenville Swamp Rabbits on loan from the AHL's Ontario Reign. The move was prompted by an organizational logjam in net rather than poor performance or a preference for fellow prospect Carter George. With NHL netminders Darcy Kuemper and Anton Forsberg retaining their roles, the Reign had been managing an unsustainable three-goalie rotation involving Erik Portillo, George, and Slukynsky.
Hockey Royalty argues that ending the three-goalie rotation was essential because limited appearances once a week hindered prospect development and rhythm. Portillo requires steady reps as the organization's third goalie, while Slukynsky will now gain regular playing time in the ECHL. The author expects the Kings may eventually rotate George and Slukynsky between Ontario and Greenville to balance development across the season.
