Seattle Seahawks quarterback Sam Darnold was injured twice in Week 8 against the Bears. The last injury will keep him out of Week 9.

Seattle Seahawks head coach Mike Macdonald announced that quarterback Sam Darnold will miss Week 9 against the Arizona Cardinals due to a quad injury. Darnold suffered both a cracked rib and a late-game quad injury during the team's Week 8 loss to the Chicago Bears. Macdonald confirmed the Seahawks do not plan to place Darnold on injured reserve at this time, leaving open the possibility of a return for the following game.
Drew Lock is set to start in place of Darnold against Arizona, having previously started in a Week 2 win over the Cardinals. Although Lock has dealt with a recent elbow issue, he is expected to play, with Jalen Milroe serving as another potential option if needed.
