Dallas Cowboys legend Emmitt Smith has become embroiled in a legal dispute stemming from a failed $2.5 million solar energy initiative. The tribal investment group has sued the former running back over a loan connected to the proposed Project Exodus…

Dallas Cowboys legend Emmitt Smith, his business partner David Mosley, and their company 4 13 Solutions Inc. have requested sanctions against tribal investment group Kituwah LLC. Kituwah, the investment arm of the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians, sued Smith over an unpaid $2.5 million loan linked to a failed Texas solar initiative named Project Exodus.
Smith's legal team has asked a Delaware court for a permanent dismissal of the lawsuit, denying any fraud or Ponzi scheme allegations. The defense stated that the venture collapsed after anticipated U.S. Department of Energy financing fell through, arguing both parties understood the financial risks involved.
