LIV Golf is set to announce on Thursday it will wind down after a financing firm retracted its support.

LIV Golf is set to be wound down after potential financial backer BC Partners Credit withdrew support due to a failure to attract enough players. The league had hoped to secure $300m in financing to launch a restructured version called LIV 2.0. However, insurmountable timelines and insufficient player agreements rendered the continuation of the competition unviable.
The development follows Saudi Arabia's Public Investment Fund withdrawing its backing in April, which prompted a bankruptcy filing in September. While around 30 players were reportedly signed up for LIV 2.0, high-profile figures including Jon Rahm and Sergio Garcia had already exited, and veteran Lee Westwood stated no agreeable proposal had been presented to him.
