The Story in 60 Seconds

Portsmouth owner Michael Eisner announced that the club has put plans to expand Fratton Park's North Stand on hold, shifting their primary financial focus to strengthening the playing squad. Speaking from Los Angeles in a pre-recorded video shown to the Pompey Supporters’ Trust during an annual Q&A event, Eisner stated that the club is temporarily pivoting away from "bricks and mortar" investments after spending £12 million on the squad last summer.

Since Eisner's Tornante company took over Portsmouth in August 2017, around £25 million has been invested into stadium infrastructure and training facilities. Eisner explained that Fratton Park will remain at its current capacity of around 21,000 for now, as club resources are instead directed toward player recruitment, medical departments, performance analytics, and technology to maintain a competitive side.
