Cam Talbot has helped the Blue Jackets steady their goaltending position, as Jet Greaves has started out slowly this season.

Weston Motz of Union and Blue argues that goaltender Cam Talbot is proving to be a major upgrade as the Columbus Blue Jackets backup netminder. Signed to a one-year contract following Elvis Merzlikins' offseason shoulder surgery, the 39-year-old veteran has rebounded strongly from a difficult previous campaign in Detroit by compiling a 4-2 record across seven appearances.
Motz notes that Talbot has recorded a .901 save percentage and a 2.70 goals against average while outperforming starter Jet Greaves early in the season. Despite pointing out Talbot's struggles with rebound control, Motz believes his reliable play makes the signing an increasingly critical move for Columbus.
