Kim Hellberg says Will Lankshear has not suffered a serious injury setback and could be available for Middlesbrough's weekend game at Watford…
Middlesbrough head coach Kim Hellberg revealed that striker Will Lankshear has avoided a serious injury setback despite missing the team's 2-0 defeat against Wrexham. Lankshear suffered a muscular issue during last weekend's victory over Charlton Athletic and was pulled from the starting lineup late on Tuesday. Hellberg expressed hope that the Championship's leading scorer could recover in time for Saturday's match against Watford.
Despite the loss, Middlesbrough remain top of the Championship table, leading Wolves by one point. Hellberg refused to blame the defeat entirely on Lankshear's absence, describing it as an off-day where Middlesbrough struggled to create chances despite controlling possession, eventually conceding late goals to George Thomason and Ollie Rathbone.
